Lost and found?

Wayne - Glad you are okay and had fellow anglers help you recover your boat. I bet it happened really, really quickly? Good luck recovering your rod/reel (@mcswny has you covered at wff).

It happened in a heartbeat.

Scary stuff, glad to hear you made it out OK.

I see, or rather I don't see a lost and found forum.
Yesterday I lost a Sage 8136-4 Demo with a Young's plate wind reel attached to it. The reel had a red Simms reel cover over it and the setup had a blue fabric rod sock on it. This was lost on the upper Sauk float when my raft flipped and sent me swimming. That's the short version. The long version is it took me about 18 seconds to swim to shore.

I can no longer access the other site, but I would appreciate it if someone could spread the word.

Glad you got out of the water, hope your gear turns up...

Really glad to hear you're OK. Brings back memories of my swim. Yes, it happens fast.

I’d gladly give up that setup for another day on earth.

I’ve never gone into the river floating the rivers for many years but I am not a risk taker. It seems like you implied you weren’t paying attention? Could you tell us exactly how it all went down because I know you are very experienced.

Not much of a risk taker myself. My Sauk baptism happened because I didn't set myself up far enough inside, probably because I was checking out the bottom structure and didn't realize how close I had gotten to the log until it was too late to row myself out of the current. It was my third day in a row of floating this section and I have only myself to blame for getting careless. I usually steer very clear of wood since I am in an inflatable and worry about punctures.

Glad you came out of this all right.

Was a lesson learned? Or will this action be repeated?

This sweeper has taken out a couple other boats this year, it's not overly difficult but just a moment of distraction and WHAMMO your swimming.
