Lone?

I recently asked a bud who lives nearby the lake to look at the ramp re the weeds and generally how the lake is looking for this time of year. He noted not a lot of weed, even by the ramp, and overall the water looked pretty clear. This surprised me as last yr weeds were thick to 30-40’ off the ramp.

What concerns me more was he also saw a few dead trout by the ramp. If you see a few, imo there’s a load more you don’t see, and the eagles and ospreys/critters that work that lake are removing further easy to eat evidence.

Any other Lone locals have intel re this? Would hate to see a high heat fish kill there now.

Nothing yet Dave? I haven’t been to Lone in a few years…..back in the glory days before they took all the “evasive” weeds out and put waaay too many damn grass crap in. I don’t think the lake ever recovered from that BS. With the summer ferry lines/cost there’s so many other lakes for me to fish. Hoping the best for Lone! Maybe see me in the fall…..

Not a peep so far. I am surprised if a fish kill as we’ve had warmer summers and fish were ok. The last big fish kill from 6-7? Yrs ago was in September I vaguely recall. All of the trout were toast then.

Maybe the changes in prolific weed growth vs the older algal scum we saw may also have an effect on the dissolved oxygen levels in a bad way, at night these plants then also need and use O2.
