local INVASIVE recon....SUCCESS!

I love that there's this fishery 15-20 minutes from my doorstep.

3.5 hrs of just hard fighting invasives...

started off ok....at this point I was just happy to find a player...

Then things got a little more interesting....

'tis a good day when your 8wt gets corked....multiple times.

You did that today? Damn... Mid April is the earliest I've ever got it to work.

yeah. Best I've ever done prior is end of April. I found a bait ball subsurface that they were just all over. Bait ball was sandwiched between a current seam and a bank on the other side. I think it was the perfect situation because there were also fish staging slightly further out.

We'll have to team up one of these trips. I enjoy the local invasives myself.

sadly this second winter put the kibosh on that. I've managed all of a single little male in the last two trips. Higher water, colder water, quick pressure drop are never a good thing by themselves but combine them...lol.

The one guy who I saw who was getting a few was 100% finesse senko game. While I have a few flies that I could utilize for that type of fishing (and have done it with success in the past), I just couldn't take myself away from my vastly preferred more aggressive strip/retrieve/swimbait type of game. Now, if he was absolutely crushing them, I probably would have reconsidered that mindset.

And to think I was under the impression for the last 50 years that it's a waste of time fishing for bass until the water warms up to 60 degrees.
