SFR Leweston/ Clarkston Seems nice

Sorta fishing-related

Jim in Anacortes

Life of the Party
I'm thinking of an extended visit there. The weather seems mild in the "banana belt", protected from the wind. Steelhead, Trout, and Smallmouth Bass. Small streams going East on the 12. Lot's of opportunity for a rockhound...cheap rent..what's not to like?
Any input, as always, is much appreciated. Cheers, Jim in Anacortes (for now).

You think that putting a giant paper mill in a narrow 2,000 ft deep valley might create an interesting concentration of smells? When the wind was right you could smell it up in Moscow. It it too bad because otherwise it could be a great spot with lots of water and very mild weather.

Wow! Thanks for the responses. I've seen a bunch of you tubes but I'll just have to go and see it (and smell it) for myself. The fishing just seems so interesting. Here in Anacortes we do not have streams nearby. Lewiston seems to have streams nearby. I've been told that you get used to the smell. I think I can cope with that if there are Steelhead around. Obviously I just have to drive there and stay for a few weeks to get the feel for the place. Anyhoo thanks for the input folks,,, any additional info would be much appreciated. Google and AI are great... but "local knowledge" is often priceless.

Jim, I didn't watch this in its entirety but in reading the comments they are mostly positive.

My son lives and owns a business there so we visit somewhat frequently and my wife and I both enjoy the 'small town feel'.
Maybe it's just luck but in all of my visits I have never found the mill to be overly offensive.

Yeah, there’s a paper mill. Smell isn’t as bad as it once was. Not a lot of jobs, but the mill still employs a lot and CCI still makes ammo…. Its a typical inland northwest town with a dominant local industry, in this case timber and timber products. Way hot in the summer. Great outdoors activities as you’re seeing, it was the homebase of Jack O’Connor after all, and other famous outdoors folks as well. Could be you.

Oh, Effie’s burgers is still open. Stop in and change your life.

When the axle on my drift boat trailer broke taking out on the GR, I had it towed to Lewiston. The Les Schwab there put the brackets on upside down. You may want to keep that in mind.

That right there dashed any desire of me ever relocating there. :ROFLMAO:
