Holy shit, great call. I have a few members coming to visit this week and we are posting up on the river. I just grabbed the mitts and we'll see who can throw a baseball. I'll report back.

We have a big 10' x 4' kitchen island and eat most of our meals at it. The wife insists it stays clean, with nothing on it. At first I resisted, but we know how that works out.
Now I fully appreciate not walking past clutter in the am.
Love fishing, pickleball, time with friends...BUT...nothing comes close to time with our granddaughter. She lives a day trip away from us, so have her/visit any time we can, o/wise, I love the calls starting with "Papa, can you build me a _ _ _ _ ?" (usually horse-related) Life is good !
In the spirit of the first day of summer:

Nothing really simple about this but it does bring me pleasure
Now I need to make it a priority to meet up with you in MT sometime. Playing catch after a day on the river. Simple pleasure indeed.
For me, it’s a nap in the sun on a perfect day. I am a very poor sleeper by nature. I never nap either. Incredibly rare.
Something about laying in the sun, with a light breeze tends to put me out like a baby though.
Now if I can just force myself to make the commitment to lay down when the conditions are right. My wife just ordered a new hammock. Maybe that will help.
Shad conquered. Got a dozen or so in a few hours. Always kept me busy. Couldn't get it dialed until I found a chartreuse jig with sparkles snagged in a tree.Oh hell yeah! Get 'em.

Bingo. Bonefish flies worked well too. Water was pretty colored up so seems they wanted the sparkle.
A sucker couldn't resist the jig and a smallie couldn't resist the bonefish fly. Fun by-catch.
Might target smallies manana, although shad are pretty fun on the 5wt. Commando Smooth with a S6 head did pretty well.
