Let's talk about Brown Trout at Pass Lake

That's an interesting subject. I used to send illegals there from Pass, saying same kinds of trout and no threat of F&G. On the one hand, everyone hits Pass and ignores that one. On the other hand, any spot in WA that produces tends to get "netted out" (hi NC and IS πŸ˜ƒ!) and I can't see this one staying secret given the location. I know it to fish tough, and am not aware of anyone expert to it. That said, I have my own similar secrets around WA that stay quiet, but in those places I've worked alone, trap shut.
I used to swim in that lake. I did my best to swim in a lot lakes in Snohomish Co. Some times it was planned and some times it wasn't.

My Pass lake brown story - pass has a bomber hatch in the spring. Size 10 black chironomids. One spring I rowed out to the β€œtrench” where the water is 25-30 ft and was fishing a full sink straight down under the boat. I had consistently been catching rainbows in 19-20 feet on smaller chironomids before I made the move deeper. After I made the move for the next 90 minutes the bomber hatch must have been going off deep (or the chironomids were staging close to the bottom). I was catching a fish every 10 or so minutes on the bottom in 30 ft and every one was a large brown. I didn’t catch one more rainbow that day. It tapered off after about 2 hrs and I’ve never been able to catch the timing right on that hatch again and I’ve never caught browns like that in pass since.
