Oregon Fish and Wildlife is looking to cut back on Hatcheries.

If the intent is to increase tribal fishing and hunting, it won't favorably affect recreational fishing and hunting when the pie is cut into more pieces or shares. Federal, state, and tribal natural resource managers are quick to describe that the pie must be made larger. I can't recall how many times I've heard that said. But just as you don't have to be a weatherman to know which way the wind is blowing, any objective observer of history knows full well that the pie has continuously been shrinking, and it continues to shrink. It is good that the Tribe has had rights restored that were unjustly taken, but I'm skeptical that the result is going to be what they had hoped for.
