Hit a couple of lakes this weekend looking for bass. It’s mid May, water temps were 60+ and some travel (fishing related and not) and then salmon will make the number of days I get to target these guys the rest of the year limited.
Hit a smallie lake today and they were plentiful. When your fly looks like this at 7 am, it’s going to be a solid morning…
Smallies came in a variety of sizes from babies to solid fish. All on variations of an all chartreuse clouser. Never fished anything else.
Also hit a local put and take that has largemouth yesterday. More of an exploratory mission to see if it was worth hitting today. It wasn’t. Got this guy on a frog fishing gear.
Messed around and hooked a bunch of these guys stripping an olive bugger around because well, they were there.
