Lago Strobel Question

Probably a long shot but thought I'd ask. Thinking about going back to Lago Strobel. Last time we went to Jurassic Lake Lodge. Thinking about going to Estancia Laguna Verde next time. Wondering if anybody has been to BOTH of these and could provide some feedback on the comparisons. I have read all the travel companies reviews and lots of fishing reports from guys that have down there. But I'd like to get some direct feedback from somebody that has been to both. Pros and cons from their first hand experience.

Anybody?

I've never fished or been there, but am looking forward to your report.

Whats not to understand? Looking for feedback from someone who has fished both lodges at Lago Strobel.
I was playing off the exotic locations you mentioned. Poor attempt at humor…

Ditto on looking forward to a report. I'm getting to the phase where I have to start paring down the bucket list. Strobel was on it, but think it'll be relegated to vicarious enjoyment. Good luck and take lots of pics.

That's one of the South American destinations that's on my bucket-list, so even though it's literally the polar opposite of the response you were looking for, I'd be very interested in hearing both your impressions of JLL and why you're considering ELV for another trip.

JLL is a bit of combat fishing. It doesn't have as much main lake area to fish as EVL.

But JLL is at the mouth of the Barrancoso river so if you want to rack up huge numbers then that is where you fish and you go in our fall.

EVL has more varied waters to fish and has a number of smaller lakes and lagoons that have browns and brook trout.

Honing in on a decision.

Why don't you just go to both and report back. Easy peasy.

In order to be able to report on both I only need to go to EVL. Already been to JLL. Now that said if you guys would like to pony up the $8K to cover the second lodge I'd be happy to go down for 2 full weeks and go to each lodge. And I would be happy to then write a novel for this forum on my take on the two lodges! Should I start a Go Fund Me campaign? :giggle:

Very interesting. Hearing "combat fishing" in the context of remote, $1K USD/day fishing in South America made me do a double take, so if you have a moment, can you expand on that? Are we talking other people close enough to communicate with by shouting but not close enough to have a negative impact on your fishing experience, or something much worse?

JLL is at the mouth of the Barrancoso River. Their "beats" are basically the Bay of Pigs, the beach, and then the right side and left side of the River. They also fish sections of the river and a bit of Moro Creek but most of that water is on the EVL ranch. So its not combat fishing like say a steelhead river in Oregon/Washington can be on some sections. But if you are fishing the beach or either side of the river mouth then you are withing shouting distance and its not unusual for a hooked fish to run in front of another anglers fishing area.

Now there IS plenty of room to fish but its a bit of a surprise when you first see it. To quote an agency I am working with "yeah its almost like they put out traffic cones to mark your boundary,"

I have been to both with similar experiences as ifsteve both trips were get and very enjoyable,Evl did offer different fishing opportunities and different locations. The best trip I did was 3 days at JLLthen 3 days at Eagle valley I was the first to put this together and it work out very well 3/4 days drive on good roads and a totally new a different location and fishing style pm for more info or 541 914 7985 Justin

I would as say that there was a lot more walking a Evl if that is a concern,Jll you can walk 100 yards and fish in the same spot all day and catch fish.

Very cool you know it will be awesome let me know if you need any rod tube travel bags / case and look forward to the pictures
