Kitsap Fly Shops

With the closing of Peninsula Outfitters, there is now only one fly shop in Kitsap County. I live in Bremerton and driving all the way to Gig Harbor isn't always the most convenient, especially during the week after work with Gorst traffic. This past weekend I visited the Gig Harbor Fly Shop, only to find they didn't have what I was looking for so I ended up driving further south to Puget Sound Fly Shop. I'll admit these are first world problems, but where are Kitsap County residents doing their shopping? Is everyone strictly shopping online? I've had great success ordering from Spawn but online shopping can't fully replace the brick and mortar experience.

Yeah I always hit Waters West when I go through PA. Amazing shop and haven't found better rhea or fox anywhere.

Usually Spawn or Reds online. I'm 15 minutes from GHFS but vibes don't always vibe for me there for one reason or another.

Avid Angler was one of the best experiences I've had in the area for brick and mortar but that is not a trip I'm usually making.

In no particular order.
Spawn
J Stockard
Feathercraft
Fly Fish Food
Dakota Anglers
Fly Tiers Dungeon
All have served me well with excellent customer service and quick turnaround time when I’ve ordered online.

In addition to what has been mentioned, I will add:
The Fly Shop - one of the few fly shops to have a paper catalog
Madison River Fishing Company
Mad River Outfitters - puts out some decent YouTube videos and is responsive to emails. The only downside is that the shop is in Columbus, OH.....LOL
Togens Fly Shop

Some from the previous lists:
J Stockards
Spawn
Fly Fish Food
Fly Tyer’s Dungeon
The Fly Shop
Water’s West (with the previous owner)

Deschutes Angler is one that I frequent while in Maupin. At home, I can submit an order in the morning and have on my front door two days later.

Living on Bainbridge, I liked having Poulsbo Outfitters around for last second purchases. Once they moved to the new location, they were kind of useless to me though. Minuscule inventory and random hours made it tough to depend on them being available when needed. It was obvious the bread and butter for that shop was the guided trips and not the store. It sucked to drive down there and not find it open randomly or even worse, closed for weeks at a time while they hosted a trip. That tended to happen in winter/spring but I fish year around so it was still problematic for me. GHFS is the next closest and I’ll stop by if I’m the area and I am in need of something. Buying online is the my go to nowadays. It works fine for me. I like supporting local fly shops if they are around but to be honest, I have no interest talking shop with the employees at a local store. Maybe it’s the introvert in me. I do enjoy putting hands on merchandise before buying though so do miss that part of it.

As far as online shops, I really like Spawn. Great service and fast. J Stockards is great. Also just placed an online order with Waters West. Great inventory and they recently updated their website making online ordering much easier.
