Kamloops

This was my third year heading up to the bobber capitol of the world. I'm only a half-assed chironomid fisherman so most of my fish came on leeches or damsels. We had some flurries of take-downs but some of the locals will humble you. You might swear the fish aren't biting if not for the guy two boats down setting the hook every five minutes. The first day we fished half a day at a popular lake and did fairly well. The second day we went to a lake known for bigger fish with decent success. We got the biggest fish of the trip there at 24". The third day was the slowest. We fished two lakes one skunk and the other only a couple fish. After the slow day the crew was looking for an easier lake where they would catch something. I knew of a lake I had been to before that would fit the bill. Unfortunately it's a larger lake and the good fishing was on the far end. My boat with the gas motor did well but the two with electric only had slow days. The last day I think the morale was shaky. I could sense some trepidation when I suggested a lake faraway with no backup plan nearby. We ended up doing really well there. We saw a guy net a six pound fish there. It ended up being everyone's favorite lake of the trip. They all denied any doubt when I called them out about the night before. We didn't run into any animosity from locals. One lady thought we were only there for the exchange rate but other than that us being Americans wasn't focused on. We stayed at an Airbnb but the host told us that next year it wouldn't be available due to the new rules regarding short-term rentals in B.C. I usually forget to take pictures, my buddy took most of these.

Glad it all worked out. I'm often the "planner" of trips and it does bring a bit of stress. You just hope everyone has a good time.
