Needed a dumb trout trip, so headed out with friends to some place filled with west slope cutthroats! We spent 4 days camping out there. The river was really low and I wasn't sure if bringing little boats was a good idea. But we decided to give it a go and it was actually a really awesome way to access the river (no surprise). Lots of fish to be had and you never know if you'd pull a couple fish out from a little spot, that might not be worth it to wade out to, but floating by was always worth throwing something in. For purists out there, sad to say, an artisan
dyed orange mop flies absolutely killed it. So much so that I eventually everyone was fishing one. Bouncing caddis technique was also fun but usually it only worked on a few fish then it'd stop working. But when they hit it, they hit it. Have some fun videos of it, but you'll have to wait for the YT video. We had some fabulous BWO hatches come off and I spent a lot of time filming rises and watching the boys throw itty bitty BWO flies. We had the cutest boat dog ever with us. Little golden retriever pup, that was so chill in the boat and on the river. Everyone wanted to dognap the dog. Great trip for the soul, good times with
