Since times are the way they are, we want to remind folks of the forum rules. It doesn't matter how right you are, or how virtuous your intention: there's certain lines we just don't cross here. Doesn't matter if you're coming from left, right, center, up or down. The rules remain the same for all.
Why do we run things this way? Because every part of the internet is raging about this stuff. For the mental health of us moderators, and we hope for the mental health of our members here, we want one place we can go and get away from that. If you NEED to have a political battle ground, the rest of the internet is not short on platforms to accommodate that. It IS short on places to get away from it. That's what we're here for.
- The main rule: Don't be a jerk.
- DO NOT: Go on partisan attacks, rants, or tell people how to vote. This is not the place for that sort of thing. If you're talking about any political affiliations, political parties, etc., then it's not within the guidelines.
- DO NOT: Make posts or replies on political things otherwise unrelated to wildlife or environmental conservation.
- DO: Discuss how to navigate the changing landscape in regards to public lands, fisheries management, or anything else related to these topics. There are going to be a lot of changes happening, let's discuss what's happening and how it affects us vs pointing fingers and blaming each other.
- If posting an article link as a new thread, please offer some of your own thoughts to begin a discussion. Don't simply paste a link and post only that.
Wondering why your post got deleted? It likely violated (at least) one of the guidelines above. Wondering why others didn't get deleted? Sometimes it's very difficult to make the right call 100% of the time, and some posts will be in the gray area. We're not perfect, and don't pretend to be. Please understand that moderating is a lot of work, and is never easy. But if you have a habit of trying to push boundaries and see what you can get away with, then you're more likely to be moderated with greater frequency.
