jetty report: ned rig works!

quick jetty report from saturday 8/5.

needed some fresh air so i bombed on down to newport last saturday for the late morning low tide. stopped at stabbi daves for some sand shrimp (turns out i wouldnt even need em). brought 2 rods 1 for jigs and 1 for plunking bait. jig rod was already tied up with a ned rig setup i use on the willamette for smallmouth, figured id toss that for a while until it broke off then id tie on something more appropriate. a couple minutes in and bam bam bam FISH ON. holy shit im thinking this is crazy what great luck this is such a lite rig for out here. 1 bass turn into 2 then 3.. all fish came in right at low slack with the same stupid little ned rig, and i never lost it even after a nasty wind knot caused me to hack off 20-30yds of mainline! tried plunking with a sabiki tipped with shrimp and then just dragging a shrimp on the bottom but no hook ups (which is normal for me at the jetty) the tiny ned rig will be my new jetty go to lure from now on thats for sure.
gear used: 1/10oz green pumpkin ned jig, z-man finesse trd in PB&J, 8lb mono leader

so much fun actually catching something besides the skunk. id encourage everybody try a ned rig and see for yourself how well it works on your next jetty trip

Ned rigs are MONEY in freshwater, so it doesn't surprise me at all that they work in the salt.
