Pretty pictures are wonderful and all but analysis of atmospheres of planets around other stars seemed fantasy just a few years ago.

Edit: FYI, the planet image is an artist's impression. It may be possible for Webb to directly/fuzzily image some exoplanets. However at this point the spectrographic data is only possible for planets that pass in front of (transit) their sun from our perspective.

Let's hope faster than light travel isn't possible. Or there might be a "cleanup" crew on the way. Although I'd be down with Klatu and Gort showing up. There's a movie that's overdue for a remake.

No shit? Lol.. Had to do some diligent research to figure out if that was 'fake news' and still can't pin it down? Between Bob Bummer up there and the rest of the mopes... Can we just look at some pretty space pictures and gasp in amazement?

There was a time I would've dismissed this immediately as BS. True or not, sadly, I can now believe someone in a position of authority actually being this clueless and paranoid. "Space laser" = "space telescope" - yup, pretty much the same thing ... 🙄
 
what we laugh at we cannot take too seriously...and that gal keeps me laughing
and being an equal opportunity laugher, plenty on the left do the same.

blew the dust off the rarely used PC with large monitor and cranked it up just for a better look at the space pics...friggin stunning
