International Ordering Issues

Life of the Party
Over the years, I have direct purchased furled leaders and co-polymer tippets from a company based in Scotland called Barrio. Their products are really first rate and the cost was always reasonable. I know I can get the furled leaders from Blue Sky, but I have found the Barrio's ones to be superior. However, I was just informed that they no longer sell to US based customers due to the current climate surrounding tariffs/duties. It is simply too complicated for a small business to navigate the current US tariff controls.

I don't know, but suspect that the same issue will impact other international vendors as well. I believe that Herkilize (not sure of the spelling) who makes a great and I do mean great, wading staff has also stopped US sales as he makes them in Canada. This means that in order to purchase in international product you have to buy from a US vendor/importer and end up paying not only the tariff, but also the vendor's mark up as well

I was going to ship an old Hardy reel to Canada to be repaired until I was told that due to its value I would be charged not only for the repair but a tariff of I believe $400 to allow my own reel to be shipped back to me. Just for someone to attempt to score some political points.

The tarrfifs do make things difficult at times...
Trade wars in general never seem to achieve their goals.

I got dinged on some stuff from Italy.
The 15% wholesale price tariff wound up to be 22% on the retail side.

On June 19 I ordered a couple ultra-light alcohol stoves for backpacking from a specialty manufacturer and vendor who happened to be in England. They arrived one week later on June 26. I received daily email updates tracking the order status and location even though I hadn't requested any notification. I haven't received any word about a tarrif, knock on wood. Funniest part is that the shipping charge cost more than the stoves.
