Intermediate Line Technique

Thanks Tom -
I'm headed north tomorrow morning for a couple days and hope to play around with this technique a bit. I should tie one more gurgler that's just a tad more buoyant but I don't want to scare the trout with a larger hawthorne tree. ;-)
Hope it works out for you. It took me a couple outings to get onto something that works. I've been able to fish real shallow, just under the cottonwood bloom, where the fish seem to be cruise feeding and occasionally picking something out on top.

I tried the washing line today. Used gurgler on the end with a pt nymph, and hares ear inside. First cast got a trout. A few cast later another , both on the pheasant tail. Then I got several tangled messes and quit. I was using an 8ft, 4wt rod and it was just too short to cast the long leader. Plus the wind was up and I just couldn't get the gurgler to cooperate. I'll try again next outing by using my 10ft rod and floater line. I think casting this mess will be like hucking an indicator rig..

I have one. I think it is probably the worst line I have ever bought. Tangle’s terribly. If you want to be as frustrated by a fly line as possible, send me your address and it’s yours!
Git y’r self a line pallet! Between that and stretching your line a bit, it’ll go a long ways to reduce line tangles.
