Interior Alaska box?

Life of the Party
My niece and her boyfriend are off on a great adventure to interior Alaska in August and September working on a remote farm. I’d like to offer some fishing gear.

They’ll be about 500 miles above saltwater. Sounds like it’s Dolly Varden country, with pike and sheefish. They haven’t fished much, but who knows? maybe it opens some doors.

I’m thinking 8wt with a floating line and a simple box:

Mouse
Egg/flesh
Bugger
Flash
??

Will Dollie’s eat a mouse? Is a sinking line more beginner friendly? Indicators? Is 2” big enough? Purple vs black?

What does a smart basic package look like?

Awesome web site. Thank you. (And some of the egg/flesh patterns look familiar!) The mouse boxes really stir the imagination. I guess people fish mice around the nw but I never have.

Sheefish look pretty great but I can’t imagine first timers doing anything with them. 40lb predatory whitefish has to be a specialized gig. I wish I was younger.

It’s sort of mind blowing how big the interior is. It doesn’t sink in until I start really looking at the scale. The place is just huge.
