Iceland...July 2018

Incredible trip with cool temps in the middle of the summer! Can't think of a better combination. Did you catch any sea run browns?

No...but it's on my list. We are trying to combine a Scandinavian/Iceland trip next year, and I very much want to fish for sea run browns, maybe Atlantic salmon...

Thanks for posting. I am on tap to fish there next spring for some giant browns at Lake Thingvallavatn. Stoked to say the least.

We went to Finland and Norway in 2018. The way it worked out we were able to do a two night stay in Iceland. We stayed in Reykjavick. Beautiful city that comes alive around the dinner hour. Had some of the best cod fish and chips in my life there. The dairy is so rich and full. Vegetables are bursting with more flavor, the butter over there is something else, it makes buttered toast a delicious compliment and of course the bread is rich, dense, and thick.
We did the blue lagoon thing but much rather have explored like you did. Wife and I talk about going back and spending more time there. Both my wife and I noticed around the 6th day, (so two nights in Reykjavick and three or four nights in Helenski) how much better we felt, our health, our sleep, lack of fatigue. This continued for our duration in Europe. I attribute it to us walking more and the quality of natural fresh local foods. Did you notice any physical change?\

We love Iceland. I've been twice. Once in the winter (Brrrrrr), and once in the summer. My profile pic is me catching a brown in an Icelandic lake. Incredible experience, and we can't wait to do it again.

Amazing pics Brute. Would love to visit some time. Streamer fishing? Is the fishing expensive?
I caught most of my fish on small wooly buggars…there are very few aquatic insects, and I don’t recall any hatches…however I did catch quite a few Arctic char on nymphs. Generally speaking, Iceland is expensive

The fresh cod and langostines are fantastic…as well as the Arctic char crudo with roe, may be better than steelhead roe. As far as fatigue goes, I hiked a crapload in waders, so I was tired at the end of each day

When we were there, they said it was the coldest summer in a decade…I could imagine how cold winter must be…but it would be the best time to view the Northern Lights, and it must be less crowded.

I’m pretty sure it’s against the law there to be unattractive…everyone there looked like Scandinavian models…

Blue Lagoon...they say the silica rich water has restorative powers, which must be true; after a couple beers, I felt great (wait, that was yesterday)...

'You can see people laying in the 103 degree water in bends of the streams drinking beer in the 40ish degree weather'
I have some friends who would see this pic and yell with joy..'I friggin knew it, Heaven does exist!!!

Thanks for the photos. I spent a couple days in Reykjavik on the way home from a work trip in June 2015. Did the bus sightseeing tour to visit geysers, Thingvallir park, and Gullfoss falls. Stunning. Kids were playing soccer in the streets at midnight. The food was amazing. Definitely on my bucket list to explore.
