Hyde Drop off

I’ve been needing to get my old Hyde into Idaho Falls for a complete overhaul in addition to moving my old truck down to the bay area as my airport car for work, why not combine the trips and fish? So… 2 weeks ago I set out with a friend for the first part of the journey, and camped out at Rocky Ford in his RV. We did pretty well on purple haze and beetles, even had nice rattlesnake and black widow encounters🤣. From there my friend took off for Chelan and I made the long drive to Idaho Falls and dropped the boat off the next morning. I had originally thought of going to a place in Wyoming but I didn’t want to drive 14 hours to the bay area so I reached out to a friend to call a buddy of his that I’ve fished Pyramid with. The bad news was Pyramid wasn’t an option for him but the good news was he invited me to some reservoirs in the middle of nowhere in southern Idaho. What an awesome drive and experience, lots of big rainbows (even one of those freaky yellow ones), caught about 40 fish over an evening and the following day. I’m glad that I created a cheap redneck rooftop tent set up to be able to camp in the back of the bed to get off the ground because there were a lot of ticks. From there it was a 10 hour drive through Nevada and the Sierras to the bay area. I look forward to having a 4x4 rig and being able to fish the Sierras and Pyramid if I have a day or 2 off between work trips. Cheers.

What a great trip. Beautiful Rainbow in shot #6. Light was perfect to highlight her colors.

Good luck on the Hyde restore.

Backup cameras and massage seats don’t qualify for an old truck, just sayin 🙃. That fish is healthy, what a flipper and shoulders. Looks like a great option compared to striking out with wind at Pyramid, nice trip thank you for sharing.

Sounds like an awesome trip. I enjoyed the fish photos, but not the rattlesnake. Give me tick photos instead. lol. Great idea on the sort of rooftop tent. ;)
