I spent the entire decade of the 70's without a TV. And working large chunks of time in the back country without even a phone and poor radio reception. Though the clear channel stations were great. But listening to the news in San Francisco at night, when you live in Idaho isn't that interesting after a bit.

I finally bought a TV in 1980. So I missed watching historical events on the news. I remember the name Kotter as part of a TV show but never saw it.

The comment is that "if you remember the 60's you weren't there". Well, in my case, I don't remember much about the 70's and this countries news being outside the media circus.

You really do not need to thank me.

A reporter was asking questions to a Russian farmer. If you had a million rubles would you give half to the government? Of course was the reply. If you had two tractors would you be OK with giving one to a less fortunate comrade? Absolutely. If you had two cows, would you donate one to help feed the hungry? Hell no, was the answer. The reporter was puzzled and asked why...... The farmer said "Because I have two cows".....

Somebody’s gotta do it. Going through a whole house full of stuff mom and dad nephew and brother either saved stored or rat holed in my folks house. Some things bring back enormous amounts if memories fill voids in memories and are just holy crapola weird or IMG_8383.jpegjust old… this falls into the weird category

One man's treasure is.....

People save all kinds of things they find significant at that moment in time.

My mother gave me a box of stuff from my childhood she saved for 40+ yrs. Looked it over once and in the trash bin it went.

When my parents (now deceased) were downsizing Mom gave me a folder of mostly school related stuff. Perusing it, one drawing shocked me. It was a drawing I made of a house, property lines, walks/paths and landscaping, from the sixth grade I think. After bumping through school and various occupations I settled on Land Surveying. In my career I prepared probably hundreds of property site plans, usually for planning purposes. Turns out I knew what I wanted to do when I was 12. Just took me awhile to find myself.

In the last few years I’ve come to think that imagination is our best asset. Even if it’s not with great intentions, as in our yout. Play those movies in your head all you want.
