I'll admit my first reaction was a disgusted WTF??! But here's a less reactionary view:

DO is not racist, and did not intend that "joke" to be racist. Did not even realize it could be seen that way, most likely because:
A) He does not think that way
B) He is completely unaware that this is a VERY prevalent, racist trope (the fatherless black child) because he's not a victim of it, doesn't hang with racists who push it, and doesn't concern himself with issues that don't affect himself

Posting it was apparently a clueless faux pas rather than a dick move.

However... doubling down and refusing to remove it would be a dick move, now that it's clear that it does offend people and (even unintentionally) does amplify a harmful racist trope. Coming across that post in this good-natured humor thread is the equivalent of finding a cockroach in your blueberry muffin. I kinda wanted to puke.

Would you, please, delete it? There are so few places to go these days that aren't mean.
Did not want you to feel ignored. I cannot delete it on my own principles alone. You are right I do NOT concern myself with issues that do not directly effect me. However, I know, see, pay attention, and observe everything that goes on not just this country of ours but our whole entire world.

I agree that there is a dwindling number of places for a person to go for them to feel like they are not being subjected to something "mean". However, this comes down to that individuals own skillset for managing their own emotions when the inevitable and possibly abrasive comments come their way.

There is just no way that I can please 100% of people that I interact with in my life, and I am also not going to dismiss your own opinion's because I fundamentally respect you.

I am not going to take the joke down. Its a joke! The kid in the photo agrees with me too. If you disagree with me, well I can't change that!

Not at all unexpected. You be you!

I remember it had to be 1983, I received a "rack system" for xmas. It was one big box, it had recessed cutouts to make it look like it was individual components. A simple remote which was new to me and my crew of friends. The best parts were the dual cassettes with continuous play, extra bass button, and an equalizer.

For the cassettes of music we didn't fancy, we would cover the tabs in the 2 corners and it would allow you to record your own playlist etc.
The 70's and 80's musically to this kid treated me to great times and memories.

Let’s not offend any Scandi people. ….. but

One day Sven and Ole went fishing on Red Lake. They rented a boat and tried several spots before they found one where they started catching fish. Lots of fish. They were pulling fish after fish into the boat: walleye, bass, Northern, crappies, and perch. After just a few hours they had caught their limits on all of them. "Wow Ole," Sven says, "We got to remember this spot!". Ole agrees enthusiastically, and takes out a Magic Marker and draws a big X on the bottom of the boat. "Ole, you idiot," Sven says. "How do we know next time we will get the same boat?"

Yamaha , and Bose .

In 1990 or 91 we bought the top of line Mitsubishi stereo system with surround sound/sub woofer and a 5 cd shuffle mix player. It turned out to be a piece of shit except the speakers/ sound system was awesome. My son kept the speakers and they still boom to this day. Very impressed but that was the only thing good about the home entertainment system. Expensive speakers !!!!

What did everyone have back in the day?
Sony, Kenwood, Sansui, Pioneer, Marantz, Technics, JBL etc?
I had Sansui.

Never had a rack system foe home stero, but did have a rack for home studio work back in the late 90s

Pioneer SX636 for decades as my stereo receiver.

Now I use a Nuprime IDA-8 with a pair of Elacs for speakers.

Mix of items: JVC receiver and equalizer, JVC Turntable, Sharp cassette with radio tuner all in brushed chrome. Black Magnavox CD and VHS playback/recorder. Speakers are not hooked up (live in apartment) and they are Jensens as big as my kitchen garbage can. All is in the TV stand that is driftwood grey with an electric "fake" fireplace. I think I threw away all the VHS tapes in the dumpsters, so just use the Magnavox to play the tons of CDs if nothing is streaming on the Roku.

Not my dogs, but the TV stand is identical.
