I'll admit my first reaction was a disgusted WTF??! But here's a less reactionary view:

DO is not racist, and did not intend that "joke" to be racist. Did not even realize it could be seen that way, most likely because:
A) He does not think that way
B) He is completely unaware that this is a VERY prevalent, racist trope (the fatherless black child) because he's not a victim of it, doesn't hang with racists who push it, and doesn't concern himself with issues that don't affect himself

Posting it was apparently a clueless faux pas rather than a dick move.

However... doubling down and refusing to remove it would be a dick move, now that it's clear that it does offend people and (even unintentionally) does amplify a harmful racist trope. Coming across that post in this good-natured humor thread is the equivalent of finding a cockroach in your blueberry muffin. I kinda wanted to puke.

Would you, please, delete it? There are so few places to go these days that aren't mean.

As a middle schooler, my friends and I devoured "Truly Tastess Jokes" Vols. 1-3. But now I avoid telling jokes are simply gross or that "punch down." In my mind, there is a dividing line between a joke that targets an "opt-in" class (e.g., vegans, gear vs. fly) and a joke that targets an immutable characteristic (race, sex/sexual preference, national origin).

Now I walk in A heavenly and sonorusly blessed presence of a Denon PMA-501 amp, Technics SL-23 belt drive - an inconsequential dvd player and equally inconsequential Kenwood KT- 58 cassette player. Speakers are bookshelf polk audio for bass response and A pair of Klipsch . In a small living room and a floor away from the record vault

Heck, this could easily be its own thread!

I have 80's-vintage Infinity and Ohm towers driven by an older Carver power amp and Integra A/V receiver. My sources are mostly CDs and digital files, but I am going to get my old Technics turntable out of mothballs soon.

I have it all configured for 5.1 surround sound, but use it mostly fo two-channel stereo through those Infinities. My current favorite diversion...
