(Feeble storytelling take #27)
Circa 1961-2

I have a memory regarding riding on the back of one of dads road bikes. I had a paper route down 6th street that became to old highway along the Columbia river. The freeway section cutting through and over the slough to Lady’s Island had not been built and opened yet. The center section of the freeway bridge (150’ above the slough below)
was built but the highway connectors were not. There were 2 x 12 x 12’s laying on the bank end to the center bridge section. Me on the back hanging on for dear life- WTH he drives across on those boards-with me. No freakin’ wonder I have always had an inexplainable fear of heights.
this makes me reflect: My dad must have done a lot of dumb ass things in his life.
Must be around the same age...Outta High School in 1970 and straight to college. Fear of heights, yes! When the I-84 was being built, Granny and Aunt needed to cross the overpass. At 4 years old, I was scared, but both got their way. Drug me across the overpass by my hair. What does not kill you makes you stronger.... I guess! Anyone grabs my hair will connect with a haymaker and possibly get a black eye later.
