I just read Bezos made 7.9 million every hour for the entire 2023 year.

Not too shabby.

Good for him.. I imagine most of that was based on investments, not his businesses.
Also be wary of sources on such things.

Last year I read many articles complaining how much profit Albertson's was making but they used "working profits" which are profits before taxes, wages and other operating expenses which is to say not profits at all.

I got no problem with it, but to then cry about how much you have to pay in taxes (which is well below the 37% Max rate - he probably pays his accountants more than he pays in taxes :)) is a bit much. It doesn't seem stop him from being one of the richest people in the country and I don't think he has too much trouble putting groceries on the table.

Just my 2 cents

cheers to not being a whiner

"The IRS and economists found in 2021 that the top 1% of earners don't report nearly a quarter of their income and that the top 0.1% of earners underreport at nearly twice that rate. The Treasury Department has found that the top 1% of American earners evade $163 billion in taxes annually, with the top .05% dodging $120 billion every year."

"Republicans have proposed defunding Internal Revenue Service (IRS) tax enforcement, hamstringing the agency's ability to go after wealthy tax cheats and increasing the deficit. In their Israel supplemental, House Republicans have called for “offsetting” $14.3 billion in emergency aid with cuts to the IRS."

absolute fukkery...

Don’t kid yourself - they will come after you too

I think we need to find a way to get Bezos on this forum and into fly fishing. Perhaps one day have an open seat thread for a Blue Origin flight.

not worried. Our incorporated (requirement of wife's primary client) consulting business went through a deep IRS audit one year, represented myself, came out Uber clean.

The 'job growers' think they shouldn't have to pay taxes because they claim to drive the economy, so worker wages end up carrying the brunt for infrastructure such as roads, bridges, airports, etc...which the Uber rich need to make their fortunes, and don't want to pay a dime for. Tens of thousands Amazon trucks on our taxpayer roads every day, Amazon only paying 6 per cent taxes, while their drivers paying 4x that...fukkin travesty
Time for a zero deductions, flat tax across the board.

These discussions are better suited to Facebook or Twitter. We fully support you guys doing that there, but it's always, without exception, a lose-lose for us to have them here. We lose members if we let them go, we lose members if we nuke them. There's no positive path forward either way.
