Life of the Party
I came across this article tonight on Wired magazine. It starts with looking at environmental aspects of causes of Parkinson's vs. genetic markers, which has sucked up the research money. Beginning with Camp Lejeune before expanding. Even geneticists are now saying only 5% of all diseases are purely genetics.
The other 95%?
Besides Parkinson’s, it touches on autism. I think like most, i thought the increase in diagnosis was due to better testing. But as pointed out in the article, whereas in the 70’s it was 1 in 10,000, now the diagnosis is 1 in 36. Better testing, to an extent, but they are researching flame retardant chemicals used in household furniture and automotive seats.

Scientists Thought Parkinson’s Was in Our Genes. It Might Be in the Water
New ideas about chronic illness could revolutionize treatment, if we take the research seriously.
