The problem here is actually because of the fires we had a few years ago. The are still clearing the dead standing burnt trees close enough to the roads that they are a safety concern. I agree that you guys get a lot more snow than us and are used to it. The problem here is the majority of the ones that don’t know how to drive in the snow, or rain for that matter, came from California.This is a problem that never occurs in Chicagoland. Sure, there's snow and iced-over lakes, but what's important is that the area is flat as a pancake; with no topography to deal with, getting from hither to yon becomes much easier. Oh, and Upper Midwesterners are generally pretty accustomed to driving in snow compared to most PNW'ers.
