My best friend and I went out to the Holy Water stretch of the Rogue River over Memorial Day weekend. We had both of our kids. My 11 year old girl can hang, and doesn’t need to be watched too much, but his 5 year old son is a ball of energy and requires supervision. So, it wasn’t a trip focused on hardcore fishing, just getting the kids outside and excited.
Having said that, we got in to a few fish on salmon fly dries. I was hooking them and handing the rod off the the daughter, how hadn’t played a fish on a fly rod in strong current before. She was stoked, especially after she wrangled in the big one that was maybe 16-17”. Love salmonflies!
