Greybull River, WY

I'm heading out to Wyoming in a week and will be hitting the Sheridan and greater Cody areas with the wife. I booked a cabin on the Greybull near Meeteetse for a few days and after double checking the regs to make sure what's open, I'm hoping to get a little fishing in. I'll be hitting North Fork Anglers in Cody and Fly Shop of the Big Horns in Sheridan to pick up some flies and local info. I've never fished the Greybull and never fished Wyoming this time of year at all. I'm planning on nymphs and streamers.

If anyone has any suggestions on flies, things to do in the area this time of year, and places to eat I'd be very grateful. This is more of a get out of Dodge vacation with the wife than a dedicated fly fishing trip.

Recommend this place in Cody. https://centerofthewest.org/. It‘s the Buffalo Bill Museum and a huge firearm collection. Well worth seeing.
Growing up in Billings in the late 60's, we would skip high school and take a 'field trip' to tour the museum.
Of course there just happened to be a little bar on the way back where we stocked up on Coors at before it was sold in MT.

I love the Center of the West! I spent a day there a year ago and plan on going back there on a later trip to Cody this summer. I am a western history buff and last trip also went to Fort Phil Kearny and the the Fetterman battlefield. Good info Richard especially for anyone travelling the mountain states this time of year. I'm taking a couple sleeping bags, my jetboil stove, and some extra emergency gear in case we get stuck somewhere.

Per the website its March 1- April 30 10-5, May 1-Sept 15 0800-1800. You guys are talking me into another visit to this place during this trip. This summer I'm planning on swinging through Dubois as well to check out the National Museum of Military Vehicles. https://nmmv.org/plan_your_visit.php I drove past a year and a half ago and didn't have time to stop.

I have been to the Center of the West on two separate occasions. They sell a 2 day pass. You will need the 2 days. It was awesome! A friend went to the museum in Dubois this winter. He told me it was definitely worth the trip. Enjoy.

Spend a lot of time at our families property in Cody, in fact I’ll be there the same time as you. Some of my favorite places to eat-
Thai Thai
Shiki Japanese
Millstone pizza and brewing
Breadboard sandwich shop
Proud cut steakhouse

This is what I'm talking about! Thanks Timbow. I will check some of these out. One of my buddies is a rancher near Cody and I know one night I'm going to meet him at the Irma for prime rib.

Irma is good and their prime rib is supposed to be the best. I’m not a prime rib fan so I tend to prefer other places, like Proud Cut for steaks. You will enjoy Irma if you like prime rib
