This sounds like a great river. I understand more fish per mile than most of the MT rivers and looks beautiful. In Sept.....how crowded? Drivable (15hrs according to google maps) or best to fly to Salt Lake City and drive?
Thanks for any help.

If you don’t mind a 2 day drive to the Green River, UT and have more time to fish other areas, I would drive. If you fly into SLC, you would have to rent a car. September is a good time to go. It is a fabulously beautiful river if you start below the Flaming Gorge dam. You can stop at Dutch John which is about 15 minutes by the dam. Eat breakfast, buy flies and rent a raft for the river. I used to camp at Firemans’ Memorial campground just outside of Dutch John. Driving down to Utah will allow you to fish other good streams and rivers down around Salt Lake City (Provo River, the Strawberry, Weber River).
I lived in SLC for 5 years in my mid 20’s.

I'm a relatively new rafter....Sounds like Red Creek Rapids is the main chunk of water to watch out for?

Those aren’t dangerous rapids for beginnners. In fact, I went through them twice (with a friend if mine) in float tubes. I wouldn’t do it today though.
