Got out in C. Oregon

Managed to go for a couple days fishing in central Oregon a few days ago. With so many good lakes to fish, it's always hard to decide where to go and what to fish for. Lately I have been trying to target browns when I get the opportunity. So decided to try a lake I have had good luck on browns in the past.

Day 1 was cloudy and windy, but manageable. Found the fish after about 45 minutes. They wanted a callibaetis nymph stripped medium fast (no idea why - the actual nymphs move slow and there wasn't a hatch anyways). Hour stretches with fish hitting on every cast then half hour stretches with nothing. But a great day fishing. About 4 rainbows for every brown.

Second day was sunny and windy. Wind was on the verge of blowing my float tube off the water the whole day. I think the sun put off the browns and the wind kept me from being able to search around. But still got a few browns and a bunch of bows. Fish wanted a calli nymph fish slow on this day. Maybe because there was a hatch?

A few fish pics....

There's a lake in Central Oregon which I fish often when down there, might be where you went. On sunny days the rainbows will feed on the hatching callibaetis for hours and I'll rarely see a brown. But in cloudy weather the browns come out in good numbers. Here's a pic of a cloudy day brown, and another pic of my son with a sunny day brown that came up for a floating beetle pattern.
