Got any bird pics?

Thanks, Steve. Folks see a few here every year. They are starting to pair-up & bunch-up. One of these days . . .

I wish I lived closer to some of the west side refuges.
Jim, have you spent much time exploring Umatilla NWR? It's been quite a few years since I have visited it but the sanctuary areas should hold quite a variety of waterfowl. The spring migration is just getting underway and hunting season should be over unless there's a late goose season. I second Steve's recommendation - find good numbers of wigeon and you should be able to pick out one or two drake Eurasian wigeon.

Thanks RR! I intend to head down there as soon as I get a free full weekday. There are scads of Widgeon here and acquaintances have seen a couple Euros recently. I must not be holding my camera right,

Here's a Storm Widgeon from a couple years ago.

I wanna thank those that recommended the Merlin ID app. With it's help I'm beginning to recognize the birds. It didn't pick up all the starlings and Flickers further away though.

The last pic is a classic!
Thanks Buzzy! That guy was pretty efficient at plucking the feathers. I didn't realize how big his slick was till I had paddled away from the eagle and was making my way through it.

This is one of two, the other eagle was hanging out closer to the nest.

The kayak is a fun way to get at the birds, or to figure out a shot and the light angle that might be more interesting. Meaning I was paddling for a bit to get this stupid angle to make it look like the crane was making the eagle's nest, the other eagle is in a branch off to the right. The sky wasn't going to let the joke play out, so not a great pic, the light is shitty etc but without the kayak no way to even try it...
