Me too! The hybrids seem to inherit the Merganser bill. Added another entry to my bird bucket list.Had to look up to see what a hooded merganser x wood duck cross would look like.

No fancy cropping, it is hard to keep a Short-eared owl centered. Sometimes it works out, or sometimes you lose a wing or lose the whole bird in a flash as they bounce, flap and dive quite erradically- and on a dime!

LOVE this photo of one of my favorite birds! A portion of the North American population of cinnamon teal are true neotropical migrants and there's a separate population that resides in South America. We banded 100's during in Northern California and had several recovered in Mexico and as far south as Guatemala.Cinnamon drake.
