We've got many birds nesting on our property. The bird songs in the mornings with the windows open is incredible. The dove's cooing and the Stellar's squawking can be kind of annoying though!
These Robins are in a rhody next to the garage.

I saw this on my way home from work yesterday evening; just S of the 1st Avenue S bridge over the Duwamish. Immature Bald Eagle hanging out with a crowd of ne'er-do-wells. Normally these don't like each other's company.

They pretty birds. They commonly nest in our yard. Nice call and I like the way they fly.

Sometimes they do that in term called anting. The bird will spread themselves around ants and allow the ants to help clean them of parasites.

I was more joking than anything. It is myself that hates hot weather.
It was giving itself what seemed to be a good dirt dust bath but maybe it was also doing what you explained.
