Hard yes!

A couple other suggestions:

Do not tie with a rug under you.
Use one pair of scissors for hair and wire and a different pair for rest of materials.
Tie outside when you can.
A battery powered vacuum is your friend.

If you're tying bigger stuff, Musky Fool is the best in the biz for quality, plus folks who are super cool and super knowledgeable....the best of all worlds IMO.

So those tools are called Hackle Guards (mostly for finishing dry flies) but I use them also for deer/elk/calf hair).
