Had the eastern Washington grand slam today, smallmouth/trout/perch/bluegill. Do I get extra points for catching them all on the same fly? I caught fish on multiple flies with multiple methods, but caught all 4 species on a super secret fly, the “drab green William”. I caught fish stripping a type 6, on an indicator, on a popper, and many on the dropper off the popper. Most of the fish were on the small side, but I did have 3 or 4 smallies at 15 inches or so. I had hits, if not hookups, on more than half my casts. All in all, a good day, until the drive home. On my drive up, they had one lane of highway 17 closed due to some chipping and sealing. On the way home, they were done, but a semi heading the opposite direction threw a piece of gravel into my windshield and gave me a nice starburst chip out of the glass. Ugh, hopefully the insurance will take care of it.
