Gear stolen (Burien)

Not seeing a dedicated channel for this, so sharing in “General”…

Came outside this morning to my car (parked on the street in Gregory Heights, Burien) to find it had been broken into. I’m usually really good about bringing my stuff inside, but I’ve been in bed with COVID since my last trip so I made the mistake of leaving the following in my car (black 2020 Rav4).

And now it’s all gone… if you all spot any of this stuff floating around please DM me. F*cking ruined my summer.
  • Simms Taco wader bag (orange)
  • Patagonia Swiftcurrent™ Waders (M)
  • Patagonia Foot Tractor Wading Boots - Aluminum Bar (Size 9)
  • Patagonia Yulex Wading Socks - $29
  • Smith RX Guides Choice Sunglasses (matte black from, Chromapop ignitor lenses)
  • Patagonia Guidewater 29L Backpack (black)
  • Yeti Load out box (dark grey with Steelhead Highway and “I suck at fly fishing” Stickers)
  • Jet Boil
  • Fly boxes (all of my flies are gone 😢)
    • Wheatley (FULL of hand-tied steelhead flies)
    • (2) tacky flydrophobic
    • Tacky pescador (teal - with “Moldy Chum” sticker)
  • Lamson Guru II reel
  • Patagonia wader work station (black - FULL of tackle: hemostats, indicators, splitshot, thermometer, etc…)

The only saving grace was that my rods were locked in a rod vault.

Sorry to hear Dave. I know, this adds insult to injury. I hope you're recovering fine from COVID.

It all sucks, but man this one- "Wheatley (FULL of hand-tied steelhead flies)" So sorry man. Thieves suck.

Unfortunately, the only thing on here that might actually stick out on an online sale is possibly the Guru II reel. I'm always browsing for deals on reels and will keep my eyes open. Did it have any particular nicks or scrapes? What color?

Damn man, that sucks.

I hope the thief tries to wear the Rx sunglasses while driving and crashes into a tree.

Damn. Sorry for your lose. That really sucks. I got hit in Normandy Park but didn't have much in the truck. Only got my nocs, which were easily replaced. Of course, the window was another problem.

Good luck in recovering anything.

I'm not 100% against the idea. But I promise you that, based on traffic, more eyes get on posts like this when they are in the "general discussion" forum than if they were in their own subforum.
Much appreciated, Josh. Main concern is being able to look for something, or get a found item back to its owner without having to sift through the entire general forum. Many here would likely have an easier time in a subforum vs knowing how to run an effective search (easy as that sounds). Perhaps hang near the top - if it really doesn't catch on maybe just pull it back down?

But I get it if not the best idea. Part of my bias is from returning a lot of stuff found at Pass on the old site...of course I was "living" there for a while 🙃

I hate to say it, but it's probably best for your mental health to just move on.

At my old workplace, one of the cleaners stole everyone's headphones. I work in tech, so we are talking thousands of dollars of Bose/Beats/Apple/whatever headphones.

They knew they were on camera and they knew the cleaning company had their details. Junkies don't care about getting caught; they only care about their next fix.

They posted all the headphones, on Craigslist/eBay, the next day. They didn't even try to hide it, by posting them one at a time. No one ever got their headphones back and I believe there was basically no consequences, other than losing a job that they obviously didn't care about anyway.

Dave - so sorry to hear this. Sad indeed. I grew up in Gregory Heights and we did not even have to lock the doors when we went on vacation..

Hopefully insurance will cover it. I believe Homeowners/Renters will cover it... Worth checking it out.

It is absolutely infuriating. Happened to me once long ago on the Yak at Umtaneum. Luckily my renters insurance (at the time) with Pemco covered it generously. Hope you can at least get recompensed.

Sucks man. I’d be checking in with the local pawn shops if I were you. I had a bunch of rods stolen from my house when I lived in Burien and they showed up at one of the shops on 1st Ave. I was able to retrieve them pretty easily.

I have it on good authority that Backhoes R Us is looking to expand into the prime Seattle market. We've not been able to find a site that meets our real estate requirements thus far unfortunately. If anyone knows where there is 300 to 400 acres of nearby unimproved marsh land available for purchase, please contact us.

Thanks. It was a silver reel - pristine condition.

Thanks. Yeah, it’s gotten pretty bad. The took the catalytic converter out of my daughters car last August and it cost as much as the cars value to replace. Definitely considering relocating in the next year or so given all that’s happening down here.
