While visiting my wife’s family in Houston, I went fishing with my brother in law in Galveston today. He was able to borrow a couple of Oldtown ePDL kayaks for the day from his friend, these things are very roomy and stable, I like them better than my Hobie Compass.

From the boat launch we followed along a series of waterfront homes until it leads to the main channel that goes to the “lake”, a larger body of water surrounded by a labyrinth of little islands, pockets and dead end small channels. We had to be cautious checking the satellite map view periodically on our phone, without a real chart plotter one can seriously get lost out there should one’s phone battery goes dead or overheated. It was 100F out there on the water, a little breeze helps.

1/3 for me, the two smaller one I saw them following my fly but didn’t seriously commit. The one I caught was crashing bait right at shore, it fell for this fly I tossed nearby.
My brother in law caught a big flounder near end of day, we brought them both home since that red was a slot fish.
