Found a Commander!

@skyriver @clarkman How/where are you guys mounting your fish finders (garmin Striker 4?) Where are you putting the battery and transducer? Fish finders are a whole new game for me..
I think Skyriver said something about what he does above. But here's how I do it. I use the two scotty mounts on either side. On one, I have one of those triple rod holders where I have the unit the furthest forward. This doesn't interfere with the oars when in use and isn't too much of a stretch to look at it & allows me to throw on a rod holder if I so choose (I usually stash my rods on the side of the seat though). I have the transducer coming off the other side via a scotty transducer arm wi the battery in a home-made waterproof holder directly behind the seat. I also have the alarm set on the finder such that it only goes off with larger marks, this way I'm alerted when something worthwhile is marked because I'm not constantly staring at it (which is actually a bonus for me) on account of it being off to the side. Anyway, that's what works for me.

Thank you!

I finally found a pic of the Garmin on the Commander. At a super secret lake. :sneaky:

Can you set your oars up in the front of the boat with the fish finder right there?

like the right oar in the my pic of the previous page, or this:

Probably not quite. Funny, I have never...not once, not even on accident, set my oars like that. Shows you I have never fished for musky out of mine. :)

I have set them flat to the inside, but never on edge to the inside. Meaning, when the pin is flipped towards the cockpit, like your right one in the musky pic, my oars are always flat and sitting on top of the top. If the pin is flipped out/down towards the water, then it's like your left oar in the musky pic. The oar is sitting sort of on the tube, but also in the water.

I assume you do that to prevent Mr. Musky from diving between oar and tube and causing all sort of hell? Smart. I've never felt that danger with even 6-7 lb trout, but maybe I should have. I'll try it next time out!

I also recommend finding a tiger musky to stick to the side of it...

One other thing, while they are tough as nails (Commanders), 5/0 hooks sometimes stick a little too well....take a patch kit & a mini pump, just in case.

Just saw this. Really cool pic. That tiger musky boat accessory is either priceless or really expensive, depending upon your perspective. I’m voting priceless.

@skyriver @clarkman do you guys typically use fins with your commander as well when you’re on a lake or slow moving river?
Yeah, always on lakes. For rivers, gotta be really slow moving and deep. Basically, a river that I don't plan on walking/wading too much. They are a pain and dangerous if you want to do any wading or walking at all. A nuisance you could say.
