With the passing of President Carter and today being his funeral, I wanted to share a keepsake of mine.
A local Eugene fly guide, Matt Ramsey was Jimmy's guide at a fly-in Mongolia taimen camp. Jimmy wrote an article in the March 2014 issue of Fly-Fisherman Magazine about the experience. With a little help from the Carter Center, I finagled the President to sign a copy for Matt and somehow he agreed to sign one for me too.
As Matt tells the story, it was a total surprise to have a chopper land in camp and a bunch of buff Secret Service agents with sunglasses hop out. Jimmy fished long and hard and learned to spey cast that day...determined to catch a taimen.
