Fly fishing youtubers

One more for Rolf Nylinder.
He is a filmmaker and a musician. He has a great eye and knows how to capture the essence of fly fishing.

Watching the back of someone’s hands while they are reeling in a fish is fantastic theater.
Lots of bad videos out there.

Paul Monaghan has some good tying videos.
The guy that ties pike flies and swears during his videos is good as well. Might be from Sweden or Denmark?

Not sure if these guys were mentioned previously - apologize if they were but their "Short Bus Diaries" is pretty entertaining.

this is exactly the type of channel i cant stand, for the record. shit like this is a large part of why ive mostly turned my back on the "fly fishing culture"

there recipe for success is
1/3 ego
1/3 sponsorship
1/3 privilege

with a splash of hotspotting and a dash or terrible fish handling added in for flavor

oh and disregard for being a good example of river safety is another one of there staples.

I mean, yeah, I agree with you on this. But it is entertaining somewhat. But I also find myself quite annoyed with them because of those things. Their lifestyle is a dream for many of us fly fisherpersons. My wife who does not fish was quite annoyed with their fish handling. She kept saying "put the damn fish back in the water you assholes!".

As mentioned previously by others, mainly watch fly tying videos on occasion.
Since I mainly fish lakes these days, I enjoy Brian Chan or Phil Rowley’s stillwater videos.
Glad I just learned of Drew on YouTube from this forum, nice videos.
I could do without watching a YouTuber’s packed rig and highway driving, too much yapping. I usually fast forward to the stream side footage.

Huge fly fisherman seems to have a good attitude about the sport and

Trout hunting NZ consistently catches ridiculous trout

I prefer the tying videos on youtube. Two of the best are Giovanni De Pace and anything w Andreas Andersson. Davie McPhail (recommended many times) is great as well. Kelly's channel is good. The Northern Angler in Traverse City does a weekly tying series posted to youtube where they interview a tyer as they are tying a few patterns. Streamer guys like Russ Madden and Alex Lafkas. Good stuff. The actual fly fishing/catching youtube stuff rarely holds my interest.

What are some of your favorite youtubers?
I really enjoy watching Drew looknfishy. He doesn't talk much or make everything seem like he just hooked a 24+ rainbow. Just a guy fishing some really cool water!
Wild fly, Todd Moen, Drew Lookin Fishy, Trout huning NZ, trippin on trout, and Hardman Fishing adventures. They all take good care of the fish that they handle and dont play the whole "supertrout" card ever

Ditto on the huge Flyfisherman and Drew lookin fishy. For tying really like Galloup, Gunner Brammer and Tim Flagler.

agree to disagree. you only see what they want you to see, and even that sometimes is questionable. imagine the stuff that doesnt make the cut
Well, here’s what I can tell you. Trippin on trout and trout hunting NZ are from New Zealand and literly everyone there respects the rules. All these YouTubers preach using barbless hooks and following regs. Especially the NZ guys. At the end of the of the day it’s not a big deal why anyone thinks, but I enjoy a well made fishing film. I do wonder what you think this group of YouTubers that I mentioned dose that is questionable (that they show).

If you're into those guys check out Mikefsher.

yeah, anything Moen has put out....

I should also add that Gunnar Brammer has got the fly tying video game dialed.
I stumbled on to Brammer's page a few years back while learning some about musky flies. I have learned so much about fly design and techniques from watching his videos. I also appreciate that he's working through it and learning in real time. I've noticed him change some things up over time as he's gained more experience. Anyways, like you said I think he nails the fly tying video format. Very instructional on how AND why to use certain techniques or materials for different applications.
