Florida Peacock bass

My wife and I are going to The Fort Lauderdale area next week for a week and I want to catch a peacock bass ( better yet-lots of them). If anyone has any advice I would really appreciate it. This could be a canal to try, a guide or whatever works.

A year ago I tied several gamechangers for a member who lives down there, so it seems that streamers in the four inch range will work. That fellow doesn’t seem to be active anymore.

No help here, although I was hoping to find some Peacock bass. But I did catch Oscars and Largemouths accessed from a dirt road crossing the Everglades. Small streamers stripped literally amongst the gators that were thick in the swamps there.

It’s a beautiful place, full of life. Lots of different birds, snakes, turtles (and alligators) were seen.

I did a Google search "where to catch peacock bass in FL" and there were several locations mentioned. I would also suggest contacting the Ole Florida Fly Shop in Boca Raton (561-995-1929).

Have fun, Rich. Safe travels.
