Crane Prairie dead, one drive by bump, didn't see a fish landed among the scattered flotilla
just pulled the skiff out at Quinn River, good old boy strolls up with spinning rod, glob of powerbait dangling under a red/white bobber...not 30 seconds goes by and I hear a big yell, turn around from securing the boat, that spin rod bent deep and throbbing, huge swirl right in front of the boat ramp area
10 mins later, whoopin and yellin, good old boy slides a huge Cranebow up onto the bank, likely pushing double digits
on the drive home, was thinking about the ethics of spray scent on flies..

Cranebows kick ass.
Many years ago my friend and I would wade around in the driftwood and gather hellgrammites, then go out and drift them through the old creek channel.
I remember many 20 plus inch trout

introduced my son to Crane last year, third session on the lake he stuck one of those rare Cranebow pigs, hella fight, ended when it jumped at eye level right in front of the boat and spit the hook...son sat down, shook his head "damn, Dad, I didn't know trout got that big"

I remember getting ready put my boat in and seeing what appeared to be a few salmon swimming around near the launch. Gadzooks!

Gonna take my daughter there this summer

Crane hates me. Always has, always will. I've fished that reservoir for decades and for decades I haven't caught a trout over 14 inches in length.

Doesn't matter what I do. I flat don't do well in some fisheries and Crane is one of those fisheries. But I never did resort to using scent or Power Bait. There's far more fisheries that I get along with to obsess over one that hates me.

X2.. once the weed beds in the Quinn River channel get re-established after winter it becomes quite the big bow hangout...and if camping there, that last hour of light is the best time to fish it
