FishWA App Update

WDFW released an update to their app. I've never really was a fan of their phone app, it took to long to update and merge the database. The new one seemed a lot faster. May be worth another look.

Thank you for the heads up Sam! It’s much faster at updating and merging, wow. That was indeed a pet peeve of mine on the old app too.

If your phone was to old for the last version, I doubt it will work. But might as well try

Doesn't look like it. But it now has links to buy a license, identify fish, and more. Also, it now wants to send me alerts. Alert me to what, I wonder?

Maybe that you exceeded your limit, with a drone photo showing it?

Emergency closures, rule changes etc.
They should build a test into it for fish ID.
Would be extremely helpful on odd years.

Not yet, but one of the enforcement folks I bumped into on the OP tells me that electronic licenses are coming to WA. Targeted for 2025

Correct, I was told to expect electronic tagging and licensing next year!
The new app does seem way faster.

They add flow data too for rivers and such.

A shame that we're still waiting on the electronic licensing. But I suppose better late than never.
