Fishing this weekend

Just Hatched
Hey all

Going to have some free time this weekend to hopefully get out for the first time this year. Looking for any recommendations around the Albany/Corvallis/Eugene area that is good fishing this time of the year. I typically don't get out this early in the year so I am not entirely sure what some good bodies of water/rivers to look at. I definitely will be reaching out to Mitch at Two Rivers, just looking for extra opinions.

Open to driving a bit but would like to stay relatively close.

Thanks in advance!

What type of fishing do you prefer? Stillwater? Trout? Steelhead?

Coastal steelhead is getting a bit late for the coastal rivers. I personally have always found best fishing in late Jan/early Feb. But, this year has also just been abysmal all around.

Trout-wise, not much outside of the Mackenzie if you want moving water without going east of the mountains. You could journey up to the Metolius and stop along the east end of Detroit Lake along the way (depending on water levels, I'm not sure where the upper N. Santiam mouth will be located this time of year). Typically you can fish the far east end of the lake near the campground there and find quite a few trout there.

Where ya located?
Mitch is a great resource. Check your regs as well for open waters/species. 😉
