Fishing license for 2026.

A common problem some folks, including me, were having with recording their catch is that they fail to "purchase" a CRC for $0.00. Once that is done then it becomes a simple task.

I'm gonna waste my time whining about why this isn't automatically part of a fishing license. It's FREE! It's digital. No wasted paper or additional ink expense because it's FREE! Just click the BUTTON and get it FREE! And if you are retired you get it at an even more REDUCED FREE RATE!! Free chit from WDFW! You read that right - FREE CHIT!! Limit one per customer.
Yeah, I had this issue with a crab catch card (which was harder because I bought the full Fish Washington package which requires a specific $0 crab CRC that was buried in the list.

I'll point out that this isn't new to the digital license. I had the same problem last year with the paper license, I showed up at Neah for a trip and realized I'd gotten the steelhead CRC but hadn't checked the box for the salmon CRC when I ordered my license which meant using the guide one day CRC's for a couple days on the ocean which was . . . interesting. At least now if I forget I can just add the CRC and it shows up immediately.

And why do I need a verification code every single time I log in, then need another security code, thats 3 different gates to go through, who ever made this app needs to hang by thier neck, so fucking dumb, and I'm not talking about myself!

Sounds like they know you...

You need the emailed/texted security code to log into the website to buy things, its a separate thing from the app and while annoying its a good security practice. You need to put your pin in for the app because it has a shitload of personal info in it you don't want random people to have.

Travers? Is that you?

It's like there is someone at WDFW who is actively trying to put the agency out of business. Their budget and management choices make them less relevant to me every year, make that every day. Now they can't do a decent job of selling a license and CRCs online. Time we all just fish WA under Traver's Main Amendment. WDFW can go to hell.

I buy non-resident fishing licenses and permits for B.C., MT, ID, CA, and OR all online, easy as can be. Except OR prints out on 8.5 x 11" paper. The others I print on 8.5 x 11, but it's a small part of the sheet, and I just cut out what I need, fold it a put it in my wallet. Oh, and CA, you have to get their steelhead permit/card in person, and it's half a yard long.

And new budget cuts are coming soon!
