Steelhead
I love to swing flys to steel. Sometimes I like to swing "intruders" and I have done so very successfully. I also love to flyfish the surf fishing in the washing machine. By chance I tied a favorite fly on an intruder chassis instead of a traditional hook. It looked great and fish liked it too. I promptly hooked 4 fish and lost everyone! Then I went back to similar fly on traditional hook and started landing fish again. Maintaining tension in the surf is critical. Do you more experienced guys think the extra potential lack of tension from a free swinging wire on an intruder could induce enough slack in the system to encourage lost fish? I'm also using barbless hooks which is never a problem if I can keep tension even on an airborne tarpon.
