Hello! I’ll be headed to Iceland this August. I was wondering if anyone had experience fly fishing there with or without an outfitter? Thinking of booking a day trip while I’m there. Thanks all!

I was fishing shoulder season for trout and Arctic char. You’ll be hitting main salmon season on good rivers.

Look at high lakes. They should be turning on while you’re there. You’ll need a guide. Tell him that you’re not after salmon. There are possibilities.

We went a couple years ago. I inquired about fishing lake Thingvallavatn and was informed that a guide/rod fee was around 1k a day. Some of the biggest brown trout in the world though.
