I caught this little guy, approximately 10-11" on the Elk River near Fernie. I at first thought it might be a young Bull trout but now I am not sure. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Depends. These days with these known government programs to INSTALL new "all one species" fishing ecosystems, it is becoming well known that now you can't even tell what kind it is. Ahh who cares fish is a fish these days.

These "All One Species" government programs are really having success! Those in the know know where its been installed so far.

Just looking at it, you would think that it's a fine specimen of a Bull Trout, but that's a common mistake! What you've actually got there is a rare Pacific Bluefin Staghorn Brush-footed Greenback Rock Carp. You can tell by the way it is. Great catch!

I knew I had something special here :)
Another rare prehistoric specimen for my collection of hundreds of others.
