Fiberglass Project

Just started a fiberglass project.

The reel seat is splattered cherry. Comes from an old Lutheran church. I was originally ordained as a Lutheran pastor, and a colleague gave me the wood. It turned out really nice on this 8' 5wt.

More to come when it is finished. Just wanted to share the first few steps.

Think it did an auto-correct to “splattered” instead of spalted being wood that has been affected by a fungi. Makes it look great with really eye catching designs.

I put a very similar looking spaulted maple seat on one of my bamboo projects and it looks great. Good choice!

I'm assuming you stabilized it somehow. There are a variety of ways to do that. Which one did you choose? Just curious.
